Six Non-Obvious Virtual Dates To Try During Quarantine

I asked my friends at Matchmakers in the City, a certified personal matchmaking firm with offices in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C., for date ideas in the age of COVID-19. They got back to me with these great virtual date ideas! Hope you enjoy them! – Brian

Quarantine has hit the world hard, and single people are experiencing the uncharted territory of having to go on first dates in the comfort of their own homes.  A virtual date is a fantastic option for singles who are excited to connect during the quarantine, and at Matchmakers In The City, we have moved all of our dates to Virtual Dates until the government ban has been lifted, and I am happy to report that we have seen some incredibly deep connections forming.  

Despite it being in your own home, a Virtual Date does not have to be boring; in fact, there are so many different ways to actually have fun while meeting someone new.  Society didn’t quite realize how close to home Netflix’s hit show, Love Is Blind, would hit!  This non-conventional way of dating can yield great success, and a virtual date can act as a beautiful and stress-free way of connecting with someone.

What you need: A strong Wi-Fi connection, 2 hours of undisturbed time, a working Zoom account, a private location without any potential disturbances.  Optional but recommended: a glass of wine.

1. A Portrait Drawing Date 

What you need: 1 pencil, 1 piece of white paper, 1 glass of wine (optional) 

Even if you are the furthest thing from Renoir, you can still have fun on a virtual date drawing a portrait of your date!  Draw as you chat and reveal your creation at the end of the date!

2. Write a Song Together

What you need: 1 musical instrument OR 1 background beat, 1 pen, 1 notepad 

Most people can play a few chords on a guitar OR use a beat from UnbelievableBeats.com!  Create 2 verses (more points if they rhyme!), 1 bridge, and 1 catchy chorus with your date. You will learn a lot about each other’s musical abilities, and you may even discover a hidden talent!

4. Learn a Tic Tok Dance Together

From the “Savage” and Carol Baskin Challenge, to the Jlo Super Bowl Dance Challenge, there are so many different Tic Tok dances that are fun to learn, and get you up and exercising!  Learn one with your date, and perform it together on Zoom!

5. Go on a Virtual Disney Ride Together

Disney is going to be closed for a bit, but you can still enjoy it virtually and together with your date!  Share your screen on your Zoom chat, and go on as many rides as you want… you don’t even need a Fast Pass!

6. Do a Virtual Museum Tour Together 

Show off your cultural side, and do a virtual museum tour together.
